Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enrol in a course?

To enrol in a course, click on the course, scroll to the bottom of the information page, and click on the course date of your choice, ‘Enrol Myself’ and follow the prompts.

I can't find any emails from AFSI. What should I do?

Please check your spam or junk folder first. If you still can’t find our emails, don’t worry—just contact our team, and we’ll be happy to help.

What if I have prior experience or qualifications? Can I achieve the qualification through RPL?

Yes, we offer both partial and full Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If you’re interested in full RPL, please email your current job duty statement, up-to-date CV, and any relevant qualifications (including a transcript) to our reception team. We will then forward your details to one of our trainers, who will assess your eligibility and contact you to discuss the next steps.

If you don’t meet the requirements for full RPL, we may offer some Gap Training to help you meet the requirements, or you may need to attend the course.

How is the course structured?

At AFSI, we use a “Blended Learning” approach for our Nationally Recognised qualifications. This combines self-paced online work through our Learning Management System (LMS) with either virtual classroom sessions or in-person, face-to-face classes in Canberra.

For private Group Training sessions, locations may vary, and you will receive separate information about your specific course.

Where can I find my course dates and start times?

Initial details are available on our website. You will receive a confirmation email directly from our Learning Management System (LMS) or our customer engagement team with all the specific dates and times for your course.

What do I need to bring to my course?

Please bring any stationery you need for your personal learning style. You will also need your login details for our learning platform. For some courses, a laptop may be required, and we will let you know in advance if that’s the case.

Do I need a laptop for my course?

Yes, for all virtual classroom sessions, a laptop is essential. You’ll need a reliable internet connection, a functioning microphone, and a camera, which must be on for the full duration of the course. A second screen is also highly recommended to improve your learning experience.

Can I complete the course on my phone or tablet?

No, you must be able to access the course on a computer with a large screen to ensure you can fully participate and view all course materials.

How do I use the Learning Management System (LMS)?

We’ll provide you with a short video and clear instructions to help you get started with our LMS

How do I set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Once enrolled in a course, you will be provided with an information video.  If you already use an MFA app, you will simply need to add AFSI as a new account.

How do I join my virtual classroom?

Your trainer will email you a direct Microsoft Teams link before the first day of the course. You can also find this link within the “Course Announcement” area of your course in the LMS.

How do I contact my trainer once the course has started?

Our onboarding video will show you exactly where to find the direct messaging area in the LMS. You’ll be able to send messages, receive feedback, and communicate with your trainer all within the system.

How do I apply for RPL through the LMS?

Each course in the LMS has a dedicated section where you can easily upload your RPL documents.

When will my assessments be marked?

All assessment submissions are marked in the order they are received. We appreciate your patience, as trainers often have a large number of students to support. If you have any issues, please email our student support team at studentsupport@afsi.com.au.

How can I see my results?

You will receive an email notification as soon as your submission has been marked. Feedback will be provided, and you may be asked to resubmit your work if needed.

Where can I find my USI (Unique Student Identifier)?

You can find or create your USI by visiting the official government website: https://www.usi.gov.au/

Do your courses have prerequisites?

Any prerequisites will be clearly listed in the general information area for each course on our website. You can also email reception to clarify if you have any questions.

How can I give feedback to AFSI Training?

We always welcome your feedback! Please feel free to email us at reception@afsi.com.au. You will also be invited to complete a survey at the end of your course, and we would be very grateful for your participation.

How can I get more information or discuss which course is best for me?

The best place to start is the information on the AFSI website. If you have further questions or would like to chat with a trainer to discuss your options, please don’t hesitate to email us at reception@afsi.com.au or call the office at 02 6106 9332.
